Continental Outdoor Media, through their contribution of unsold billboard inventories, is contributing much needed media awareness for Afrika Tikkun, an NGO that is focused on the sustainability and transformation of communities.
Afrika Tikkun helps empower the next generation of South Africans with their unique model of interconnected core services that develop children and strengthen families from “cradle to career”. They believe that every child deserves a fair start in life, more especially the disadvantaged South African township children who face situations beyond their control.
The Patron-in-Chief, Nelson Mandela, said, “The Tikkun project demonstrates, in a practical and sustainable manner, what can be done with limited resources, great commitment and passion. The challenge to reach all the disadvantaged people of South Africa remains a paramount one. We need all the resources, both human and financial to address these challenging tasks. It is my belief that Tikkun represents the best of what civil society can offer in partnership with Government’s considerable efforts.”
The philosophy of Ubuntu is to put the needs of whole community first, to serve others – this is a core value of Afrika Tikkun.
Kofi A. Annan, UN Secretary-General said, "There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children. There is no duty more important than ensuring that their rights are respected, that their welfare is protected, that their lives are free from fear and want and that they grow up in peace."
